2018/2019 Legal Studies Society Extended Team
Lower Year Representatives:
Prianka Hoque (First Year)
Hi! My name is Prianka and I am a first year representative for the Legal Studies Society. I am in my first year of Arts and Business Co-op. I joined the LSS to build and connect with a network of peers, students, professors, and professionals in the legal world who carry the same passion for law as I do. In the future, I hope to find success and happiness with a career in corporate law.
Manmeet Kang (Second Year)
My name is Manmeet Kang and I am in Honours Political Science, with a minor in Legal Studies and a specialization in Canadian Politics. My goal for the future is to eventually go to law school and become a lawyer, but I would also enjoy working for the government of Canada. I joined the Legal Studies Society this year in hopes of getting more involved on campus, and advertising events that the society holds. I remember enjoying all of the events hosted in my first year, so I wanted to join and help plan some of them!
Symrun Patel (Third Year)
Hi, my name is Symrun and I’m in Legal Studies and Business with a minor in English. I joined the Legal Studies Society to take more of a leadership role in the community and be apart of the amazing events the Legal Studies Society host. After finishing my undergrad I plan on pursuing law school and becoming a corporate lawyer.
Aretha Rahim (Fourth Year)
Director of Education:
I’m Shana, and I am the Director of Education. I am in Honours Arts and Business and am loving my legal studies major! I joined LSS because I was eager to learn more about the legal field and had so many ideas about new resources the society could implement. LSS has given me a community of motivated students, all curious about law. I plan on interning with the New York State Assembly as my upcoming CoOp and staying involved with LSS during my work term.
I am in Science and Business specializing in Biotechnology. I joined the LSS this year because I have developed an interest for studying law throughout my co-op terms. I am hoping to learn more about different legal careers and possibly study law in the near future.
I’m Harry and I am in the 1B term of my Honors Maths/Financial Analysis and Risk Management. I have been considering interested in pursuing law and I thought joining LSS would be the perfect way to immerse myself in law non-scholastically and be a part of a community of peers enthusiastic about all things legal. I believe my experience with the LSS will help me reinforce my passion, knowledge, and involvement in law.
Social Media Coordinators:
Hello everyone! My name is Bethany and I am in my first year of the Honours Arts and Business program. I decided to join this year’s Legal Studies Society because I am planning on choosing legal studies as my major at the end of first-year. I also got involved because I love to be engaged in extracurriculars in which I find genuine interest and that allow me to apply my education beyond the classroom. I am still trying to figure out what I want to do in the future, whether it is law school or some other area in the legal realm, but I hope that Waterloo’s co-op program will guide me in this decision!
