2018/2019 Legal Studies Society Executive Team
Ashleigh Kong – President
Hi everyone! My name is Ashleigh Kong and I’m excited to take on my role as the President for the 2018-2019 academic year. I am a 4A International Development and Legal Studies double major hoping to pursue my dream of becoming an International lawyer. In my spare time, I enjoy being a foodie, travelling to new places, and working on my kicks for Muay Thai!
Mackenzie Leclaire – Vice President of Communications
My name is Mackenzie, and I am the Vice President of Communications. I am currently in my 2B term of a Joint Honours Degree in Sociology and Legal Studies with a minor in Psychology. I took an interest in the Legal Studies Society because I wanted to meet other individuals in my program, network with those in the legal profession, and host events for the entire University of Waterloo community to take part in. For the remainder of my Bachelors Degree, I hope to stay involved within the Legal Studies Society and carry my interest and passion for the legal system all the way to law school in 2021. In the future, I hope to pursue a career in either the Criminal or Constitutional areas of Canadian law.
Berrihan Azzam – Vice President of Education
I am in my 2A of Honours Legal Studies with a double minor in Political Science and Sociology. I joined the LSS because of the amazing opportunities it allows students to have access to, from the law school admissions info sessions, mock LSATs, mixers, and the annual prison trip. I knew this would help me expand my network on another level with my colleagues as well as any guest speakers that come. The opportunities are endless and it is always being modified to fit the needs of the students to really give them a better insight as to what law really is and hearing the experiences first hand, it made me fall in love with law even more! With that being said, I aspire to graduate with my BA from UW, then get my paralegal certificate, and then go to law school to help me determine if I want to be a criminal or corporate lawyer afterwards!
Ariana Mayer – Vice President Internal (Winter Term)
I’m Ariana, and I am the Vice President Internal for the 2019 Winter term. I am in my 3A term, currently studying Legal Studies and Business. I joined the Legal Studies Society because I wanted to get involved in the department and network with fellow Legal Studies students. My future goals are to go to law school! Alongside my passion for law, I love reading, writing, and digital art.
Amanda Atkins – Vice President External
Abina Mahes – Vice President of Finance
